Prepare & file Form 1099-R

One workspace for a single form or hundreds across multiple payers. Add forms with the guided walkthrough, edit from the submission table, import/export anytime. Recipient SSNs and amounts are not kept on our servers after filing — save JSON locally to pause and resume.

Integrate via API

How it works: six steps

  1. Sign-in & security. Sign in, verify your email, set up an authenticator app, and complete your filer profile (who is filing, company, phone, and address).
  2. Prepare forms. Add forms with the guided walkthrough, by filling in the form, or by importing a JSON, CSV, or Excel file. Everything in the table is filed as one submission; use Start new filing before adding forms for the next one. Save JSON anytime to pause and pick up later.
  3. State filing. Choose how your states get these forms:
    • Automatic (recommended): the IRS forwards each form to the state in box 15 through the Combined Federal/State Filing (CF/SF) program, for participating states.
    • I'll file with my state(s) myself: the IRS gets the federal return only, and you file with each state.
Either way, states outside CF/SF are yours to file, and some states still want a registration, a direct copy, or an annual withholding reconciliation. See the State filing guide for what each state needs.
  4. Validate. A free check of every form for missing or invalid entries before you pay. Nothing is sent to the IRS.
  5. Pay & file. Pay $5.00 per form by card, and we transmit your return to the IRS through IRIS. You get a JSON backup and a PDF payer copy to keep. The IRS accepts each tax year's forms starting in January of the following year (2026 forms in January 2027; you can prepare and save them now).
  6. Filing status. Track whether the IRS accepted your forms on the Status page. We email you when the IRS posts its result. Then send each recipient their copy by January 31.

Let your AI assistant prepare them

ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or your own software can draft your 1099-Rs from a spreadsheet or plan records using our API or MCP server. Create a key that can only prepare drafts. The assistant validates the forms and sends you a review link. You sign in, check every form, pay and file. The assistant can't file or pay.

Set up an AI assistant
Before you file: You are responsible for furnishing the recipient (payee) copy and for keeping records for at least 3–4 years. This is not tax advice. Filing fees are non-refundable. If the IRS rejects a filing, sending the fixed forms as its replacement is free (from the Status page). A correction is a new filing at the normal fee — unless the problem was caused by our service, in which case contact us and we will make it free.
Test/ATS mode is active. Submissions are for IRS Assurance Testing (ATS). Your TCC remains in test status until communication testing passes (Pub 5719). Production filing is enabled by an administrator once testing is complete.
